WELCOME
Our property "Spring Valley" is a mixed farming operation located in northern Tasmania. We run prime lambs, beef cattle, some cropping and our White Suffolk stud.
Our stud ewe base is around 400 ewes and we sell around 150 flock rams annually.
We use our own rams in our commercial flock and turn off approx 800 prime lambs annually, which gives us excellent feedback on how our genetics are performing.
We are constantly infusing top Australian genetics via AI into our stud in an attempt to continue making genetic gains.
We have been performance recording (Lambplan testing) since its inception. This ensures our ASBV's have a high accuracy and are reliable.
Our breeding objectives for the stud are to produce sound rams that will perform in many environments and to suit all prime lamb markets. We are achieving this through producing two different sire lines.
A. Focus on moderate birth weight and maximising growth and muscle. These rams are best suited to the crossbred or larger framed merino ewe.
B. Focus on low birth weight and balanced growth and muscle with some fat cover to assist finishing. These rams are best suited to the saxon merino or maiden ewes.
Within our flock you will be able to find the right genetic mix (ASBV's) to suit your ewes and it is our goal to assist you with this.
