LAMBPLAN
Our breeding program is based on a combination of measured traits with analysis prepared by LAMBPLAN, the world leader in this field, and practical application of the Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs), along with the fact the animals must also be structurally sound.
Lambplan ASBVs are calculated from combinations of performance information from individuals and their relatives collected at various stages of their development. They are expressed as the difference between an individual's genetic merit and the genetic base to which the animal is compared.
Lambplan takes away the visual appearance of the sheep, that is the climatic environment or amount of feed they received. It factors in twins compared to singles and the age of the dam which can also affect the growth rate of the lamb). By taking away these environmental factors you are left with the data (ASBV's) to compare all animals from all terminal breeds throughout Australia on the same level.
Many new changes are taking place within Lambplan due to a large number of research projects currently being undertaken within the Prime Lamb Industry. Results from these research projects are coming through the recognised industry standard - Lambplan. Visit the web site here for an update. We will also have all new information displayed and explained at our on property sale in November.

Data for Lambplan is collected and recorded in the following ways:
- All lambs recorded including sire and dam pedigree, twin/single, male/female, date of birth.
- Birth weight is taken of all progeny born.
- Weaning 3-4 months weighing of all lambs including culls.
- Early Post Weaning 5-6months - Scanning for eye muscle depth and fat. Weight is also recorded again at this stage.
- Post Weaning - 8-9 month weight recorded.
