In the past three and a half years University of Adelaide and SARDI researchers have looked at novel strategies to lift the weaning rate of the national flock. They have found supplementing ewes carrying twins with melatonin could help lift lamb survival by more than 10 per cent. Last year two White Suffolk studs, Ashmore at Wasleys and Illoura at Moorlands were involved in the trial with their twin bearing ewes.
