At Lambex 2016 there was keen competition for the Young Guns awards. Elise Bowen won the Early Career Professionals section of the Young Guns competition with her entry on “The development of a maternal ewe efficiency index for the Mount Ronan flock”.
Steve Connaughton won the Honours, Masters or PHD Student section with his entry on “DEXA measurement of lamb carcase composition is accurate in both wethers and ewes”.
Laura Wishart won the High School or Undergraduate Student section with her entry on “Lean Meat Yield & the Path to Value Based Payment: What is the most profitable Lamb?” Charlie Shadwell received a special commendation also in the High School or Undergraduate Student section with his entry on “Why should Commercial Producers Improve Lean Meat Yield?”
